about
As a child, my dad loved Westerns. When he was 7, he was hospitalized with nephritis and nearly died. Years later, he wrote about the experience, recalling his feeling at the time that his heroes, the cowboys, had guided him to safety.

lyrics
On the second floor of the children's ward,
A gunfight's going on
It started late at night
Now it's dragging into dawn
A thread of life still clings
To the tubes in the machines
A barely conscious little boy's
Not sure what it means
So his fantasies will comfort him
And make it very clear
It's just him against the outlaws
And his friends are finally here
For Bucky and the cowboys
It's a rocky trail ahead
Trying to fight the bad guys
From a hospital bed
Look out for an ambush
It's a dangerous ride
But Bucky knows he'll make it
With the cowboys on his side
Mom and Dad are in the waiting room
Just praying for their son
While Bucky's aiming down the barrel
Of a six-shooter gun
Just when things are getting mighty desperate
With no place left to hide
Like guardian angels to the rescue,
The cowboys arrive
The doctors and the nurses
They're watching over him
But they'll never see the real fight
That rages on within, oh...
For Bucky and the cowboys
It's a rocky trail ahead
Trying to fight the bad guys
From a hospital bed
Look out for an ambush
It's a dangerous ride
But Bucky knows he'll make it
With the cowboys on his side
Look out for an ambush
It's a dangerous ride
But Bucky knows he'll make it
Oh Bucky knows he'll make it
With the cowboys on his side
